Title - Since the introduction of the Health Professions Council (HPC), the title State Registered Chiropodist has ceased to be used and changed to Chiropodist or Podiatrist which is a protected title.   Since 2005 only those who have satisfied the registration criteria may call themselves a Chiropodist or Podiatrist.

There is no difference between these names but Podiatrist/Podiatry is gradually replacing the old established name Chiropodist/Chiropody to keep in line with other English-speaking countries.
